A Great Bake Sale

Wow!  What a great response we had for the bake sale!  Thank you to all the many volunteers who helped to make it a success.  The weather was cold but the rain held off and we had many cheerful people on Hance Avenue soliciting potential customers,  Already from the bake sale we have raised over $600!  And there is still money coming in.  Thank you to everyone who baked for the bake sale.  We are praying that God will take this money, bless it and multiply it so that many people in Japan receive help and hear the Good News about Jesus.
Love in Christ,

Getting ready for bake sale

Special thanks to all of the people who have come by today to drop off baked goods.  We are praying that the weather will cooperate and also that we will raise lots of money for the people of Japan.  Please stop by and get a cup of coffee and some home made cookies.
Love in Christ,

I can’t do everything, but I can do something!

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25:40)

I have found that the hardest part of going to visit a third world country like Kenya or Haiti is coming face to face with the great need.  It is overwhelming and it made me feel like “There is so much need, what difference can I make?

This is a common reaction that people have.  We see the severe problems in the world and they seem like they are simply too big to even consider.

However, Jesus had a different attitude about the subject.  He explained that whatever we do for the least in the world we are actually doing for Him.  This is one of the ways that we can store up our treasure in heaven.

As our adult Sunday School Class studies the new book by Richard Stearns, “The Hole In Our Gospel” one of the things that we are learning is that statistically speaking the church has been neglecting this critical aspect of the kingdom of God.  We have not made much of an effort to care for the least of these.

Our desire this year is to say with all our heart, “I may not be able to do everything, but I can sure do something!  We have a great opportunity to actually help individual families in underprivileged countries like Haiti and Kenya by providing a goat for a family in Kenya ($50) or a water purifier for a family in Haiti ($35).  We have made it our ambition to really do something.  Please help us!

All of the money that we collect from now until Easter will be stored up and on Easter Morning with the help of the kids and an exciting egg hunt we will unveil the grand total.

Please make out your check to the “Reformed Church of Tinton Falls” and write “goat project” on the memo line.

In addition to this we are collecting non perishable food for the people in our own area who are struggling financially.

Let’s make every effort to fill up that hole in our gospel.

Love in Christ,
